If you submit your quiz more than once, you will receive the lowest grade submitted.

You have until Friday, 11/20 to finish the six lessons in Flash that we will be working on. If you finish all six by next Friday, you get a 100  for the first two of this six weeks.

Let’s see if we can finish Lesson 2 in flash today.

Create a new folder on your H drive called “Flash” and save all of your work there.

Now that you have played with Pivot, try telling a short story.

Write three sentences in your blog that tell a very simple, very short story. Then create an animation that tells the story. Then write about how you showed what happened with your animation.

For example,

Story:

John ran up to a horse. John hopped onto the horse. John rode away.

See? A short, simple story.

Then write in your blog how you showed what happened.

Animation:

John walks from left to right. John hops magically onto the horse. They ride off to the right.

This is due at the end of class tomorrow, Wednesday.

Today you are going to play with basic animation.

We will use Pivot Stickfigure Animator to start off.

The important concept that you need to understand is “incremental movement.” An increment is like a small step – kind of like a millimeter is a part of a centimeter. If you move the figure in the animator one small bit at a time, part of a step, then part of another step, and add a frame with the “Next Frame” button as you move each time, then when you play the animation, eventually the little movements add up to a big movement and you see a steady flow of movement rather than little jerks.

Today you should start out just trying to make your figure walk. Start with little partial steps, and then frame by frame add them together to make big steps.

Try creating your own after reading the rest of this.

In your blog today, define the term “incremental movement” and write a short post about how it goes when you start to make your figure walk.

Look at the example (located here:  S:\shared\students\Bjerke\CApps\Animation ) and see how it moves. It’s pretty jerky, but that’s to show you how it moves little by little. When you speed it up more, it looks better. If you paste that path into your browser in a new tab, then open the file with Firefox.

Be sure to save your work to your H drive.

Today you should create the handout for your completed presentation. Use Word.

Your handout should have:

1. your name, my name, the class period and the date
2. a title
3. one summary sentence
4. five bullets for details
5. bibliography (sources)
6. your email address

Tomorrow, Wednesday, 10/28, I will check your presentation and your handout.

Find an article about something that interests you in Wikipedia.

Take the first 15 sentences and paste them into a Word document (USE PASTE SPECIAL and paste the text as “Unformatted Text”).

Breakdown the sentences into bullet points. Eliminate all complete sentences.

Create a folder for this project on your H drive. Find 30 large pictures and save them to this folder (don’t save them to the Word document). Save the Word document to this folder also.

Tomorrow, Friday, create a presentation from the info on the Word document.

In this presentation, you cannot use black or white for letters or background.

Every other slide should be just a picture. Other slides should have words and a picture.

List your sources and use this list to be sure that your presentation meets the requirements.

1. no serif (Roman) fonts
2. high contrast letters/background
3. 32 or more slides
4. no more than 25 words on any slide
5. no complete sentences
6. pictures not distorted
7. first title slide has your name, class period and email address
8. all slides use the same template
9. all slides have the same theme/appearance
10. bibliography includes source websites (Google is NOT a source)

This presentation is due by the end of class Monday.

Tuesday you will create a handout for this presentation.

Your handout should have your name, the class name, the class period, email address and the date. It should be a summary, in 10 or less bullet points, of your presentation. The entire handout must be in Times New Roman font.

If your presentation and handout is perfect when I check it on Wednesday, you will not have to present to the class. If you have errors, you will present next week.

I will be checking your presentations today based on the ten point rubric I gave you last week. This will help determine your mid six weeks grade which I enter today.

Step 1: Read THIS ARTICLE.

Step 2: Then define the ten terms on the list “Top 10 Strategic Technology Areas for 2010.”

Hopefully, after you define those terms, you will have a better idea of what they mean. You many want to read the article again.

We should have a discussion about this, so come up to the front if you want to understand what this all means.

Step 3: Along with the definitions create a blog entry that tells me what you think will be the trends for 2010.
